Understanding the Apollo Scooter PIN Sharing Process

Last updated October 19, 2026

Every Apollo scooter has a 6-digit PIN stored on the scooter itself. The registered owner is never asked for it. Anyone else connecting to the scooter is, which is how an owner lends the scooter to someone and how a scooter stays protected if it is lost or sold.

Lending your scooter

Share your PIN with the person you want to ride it. You can see it in the app under Scooter Details, Security & Ownership, PIN. Changing the PIN stops them from connecting again.

Selling or giving away your scooter

Use Transfer Ownership in the app (Scooter Details, Security & Ownership) with the new owner's Apollo account email. They can connect right away without a PIN. See "How to Transfer Ownership of Your Scooter".

You have a scooter registered to someone else

If the previous owner did not transfer it, you can sort it out in the app:

  • "Request PIN from scooter owner", under the PIN field, emails the registered owner so they can share the PIN or transfer the scooter.

  • "This scooter is mine: claim it" makes you the owner without their help:

  1. On the PIN screen, tap "This scooter is mine: claim it". If you are already connected as a guest, you can also open Scooter Details, then Security & Ownership, then "Claim this scooter".

  2. Tap "Check now". If you bought the scooter from Apollo with the same email or phone number you use in the app, or if the scooter was set up on the phone you are holding, it becomes yours right away.

  3. Otherwise the app asks for two documents: a proof of purchase (a receipt, an order confirmation, or a bill of sale naming you as the buyer) and a photo ID in the same name as your Apollo account. A photo or a PDF works. Both are checked automatically.

  4. If the documents are accepted, the registered owner gets an email and has 7 days to approve or decline. If they do not answer and have not used their Apollo account in that time, the scooter is transferred to you automatically. If they were active but did not answer, Apollo support decides. You get an email either way.

  5. Once the scooter is yours, connect to it as usual. You will not be asked for a PIN. Then set your own PIN under Scooter Details, Security & Ownership, PIN, since the previous owner still knows the old one.

Stolen scooters

A scooter reported stolen by its owner cannot be claimed, and Apollo never shares its PIN.
