How to Access or Reset Your Scooter PIN
Last updated October 29, 2026
If you are the registered owner of your scooter, the Apollo app does not ask you for a PIN. You are only asked for one when the scooter is registered to another Apollo account, or when the app cannot reach Apollo to check.
Not sure why you are asked for a PIN?
Tap "Why am I asked for a PIN?" under the PIN field. The app tells you which Apollo account the scooter is registered to.
If you are the owner
You can see your PIN at any time: open the sidebar menu, tap your scooter (or "Switch Scooter" if you have several), then in Scooter Details go to Security & Ownership and tap PIN. The current PIN is shown there, and you can change it while connected to the scooter.
If the scooter is registered to an old Apollo account you no longer use, claim it from your current account (see below).
If you bought the scooter second-hand or were given it
The scooter is still registered to the previous owner. You have two options, both in the app:
Ask the previous owner. Tap "Request PIN from scooter owner" under the PIN field. They get an email and can share the PIN or transfer the scooter to you.
Claim the scooter yourself. You do not need the PIN or the previous owner's help for this.
On the PIN screen, tap "This scooter is mine: claim it". If you are already connected as a guest, you can also open Scooter Details, then Security & Ownership, then "Claim this scooter".
Tap "Check now". If you bought the scooter from Apollo with the same email or phone number you use in the app, or if the scooter was set up on the phone you are holding, it becomes yours right away.
Otherwise the app asks for two documents: a proof of purchase (a receipt, an order confirmation, or a bill of sale naming you as the buyer) and a photo ID in the same name as your Apollo account. A photo or a PDF works. Both are checked automatically.
If the documents are accepted, the registered owner gets an email and has 7 days to approve or decline. If they do not answer and have not used their Apollo account in that time, the scooter is transferred to you automatically. If they were active but did not answer, Apollo support decides. You get an email either way.
Once the scooter is yours, connect to it as usual. You will not be asked for a PIN. Then set your own PIN under Scooter Details, Security & Ownership, PIN, since the previous owner still knows the old one.
If a claim is refused, the app tells you why. You can start a new request after 7 days. A scooter reported stolen cannot be claimed.
Good to know
The app has no "Reset PIN" option, and a wrong PIN never unlocks a reset. Entering it wrong only shows "Incorrect PIN. Try again."
As the owner, a factory reset from the app puts the PIN back to the default 888888. It needs a live connection to the scooter.
