Apollo Phantom 2.0 – Light Intensity Behavior Explained (flickering or dimming)

Last updated November 5, 2026

On the Apollo Phantom 2.0, moderate, periodic changes in headlight (lightbox) intensity are normal: the system automatically adjusts the lightbox intensity to manage heat and electrical frequency and to protect the lightbox from overheating. Occasional, moderate changes mean the system is working as designed.

What is expected

  • Slight changes in headlight intensity, most noticeable while the scooter is stationary.

  • Brightness may drop by about 20% and then return to normal.

  • The adjustment can repeat periodically, typically about once a minute, at times when the scooter is not moving.

When it indicates a problem

  • If the light intensity changes continuously (for example every second or every few seconds, without pause), that is not normal.

  • If the flickering is rapid or erratic rather than gradual, that is not normal either.

  • In those cases the lightbox may need to be replaced, after warranty review.
