E7 error code on any Apollo model, Phantom 2.0 included: motor hall sensor fault, wheel locks or drags when powered on, one motor not spinning

Last updated November 5, 2026

E7 means the controller detects a fault from a motor hall sensor or its circuit. Every model, Phantom 2.0 (52V and 60V) included.

Symptoms: E7 at power-on, buttons work but the throttle does not, the wheel locks or drags once the scooter is on, or only one motor spins.

1. Inspect and reseat: check the motor cable (fork or arm, deck) for cuts, kinks or crushed sections. Reseat the motor and controller connectors; look for bent pins or corrosion.

2. Motor calibration: wheels off the ground on a stand, power on, press the power button quickly 10 times right after the beep. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzORzc6w41o

Each motor spins in turn (single motor: it spins). A motor that does not spin is the affected one. Both spin but E7 remains: likely the controller.

3. Dual motor, to confirm motor or controller: swap the two motor connections (Phantom 2.0, Pro and City 2025: the external quick connectors, no need to open the deck). The problem moves to the other motor: likely the controller. It stays with the same motor: the motor.

4. Wheel by hand: free with the scooter off but locks or drags once on: points to the controller. Hard to turn or grinding with it off: internal motor damage.

Usual fix: replace the affected motor (or the controller if the tests point there).
